Randy Moss
Trade Talks Still Flying

Yeah, yeah, we know, you're sick of hearing talk about Randy Moss' contract and trade rumors, but they continue to fly. The latest, however, makes little to no sense.

VU got a good chuckle out of this: Are the Vikings considering trading Randy Moss? Only as a last resort, but one newspaper has come up with a trade scenario.

The paper ran a rumor that Dallas is willing to give up three No. 1 picks and a player for Moss. However, this is the same Dallas team that hasn’t had a first round pick for the last two years because it traded for Joey Galloway — a WIDE RECEIVER! This is the same award-winning paper that said if Moss was gone Robert Smith would re-sign.

VU hears rumors and reports them, but this happy hour conversation shouldn’t be given too much credence. Moss may be traded, but it will be a last resort in July if talks go nowhere on a contract and it won’t be to Dallas.

FRIDAY NOTES
* In another humorous rambling from the round table comes this: Tampa Bay is still trying to sign Robert Smith. Not only should this one have Don’t Print That on it, it should take it to heart and leave what remains of any credibility. Like Dallas seeking Moss as well as earlier reports from the same scribe that Denver — with two 100-catch receivers — was hot for Moss, this one has no basis in fact. The Bucs can’t spread the ball out enough for Warrick Dunn and Mike Alstott, much less bring a reluctant (and signed-up-for-college) Bob Smith into the fold.
* In more former Viking news, fullback Obafemi Ayanbadejo of the Ravens is likely out until the preseason with a nagging toe injury. While he is expected back in form by July, he has been forced to cancel his workout regimen, which could be bad news for Femi fans in 2001.
